I had so much fun making these Frame Stamps. I hope they're as much fun to use in a layout as they were to create! These will be in the store Jan. 4th along with the other La Boheme items. I've got a real fun challenge cooked up to go along with this series as well! Can't wait for the new year!

Here's my second page kit for January. If you want a jump start on Valentine's Day, this might help. I thought it also might work well for heritage layouts- which I really need to give a try myself! This one was a labor of love. Let me know what you think!

Here's a set of flourishes I drew in Adobe Illustrator. It's my first time drawing in Illustrator. DSP Designer Lisa Carter suggested I use the wacom table in Illustrator. I cannot believe I had never thought of that before! It's wonderful!!
You can get this set of flourishes FREE by joining in my "Tis the Season Tag Challenge"- make a set of Gift tags using one of my Holly Jolly Christmas kits and get the flourishes free! After the challenge, they will be in the store.

I just finished this set of Doodles for the Because I Love You series. I was going for a tattoo doodle look. I think they're kind of fun! Hope you like them!

Here's the Add-On Pack for Because I Love You- it's already in the store. As soon as my Queen For a Day Challenge ends- this Sat. I will post a fun new challenge for this series. Think about someone or something you truly Love...

I just finished this kit- Because I Love You. Funny thing, after I completed it, I sat back and looked at it and it dawned on me what the inspiration was--- I think it might have something to do with Captain Jack Sparrow and seeing him at Disneyland. The colors are very Jack Sparrow- the brown distressed paper reminds me of his leather boots and belt. The pattern of the red paper is similar to his bandana, the beads look like the beads in his dread locks- a tattoo influence too maybe??? Uh, do you think he made an impression on me??? LOL!!! Anyway, whatever the inspiration, I'm really happy with it. I hope you like it too. Now to think of a good challenge! Any ideas???

oh and this will be this week's Bingo Chat prize!! If you want to join in on the Bingo fun, you might just win the kit for free!

This set of overlays was created to match the Beautiful Soul Page Kit, but these can be used with lots of other kits as well. These will be in the store Nov. 4th.

Here's an overlay pack to go with The Royal Treatment Page Kit!! Both of these kits will be in the store on Nov. 4th.

I've been seeing these cute little crowns everywhere lately- on cards, layouts, atc cards. I think they are just so darn cute! I created the book paper crown first and that inspired this entire kit. I think it's really fun! I'm concocting a really fun challenge to go along with it! Get ready to wear your crown proudly!

All the wonderful layouts from DSP members for my What About Me Challenge has inspired me to do this kit. I think each and every wonderful woman who posted a layout has a beautiful soul and this kit is dedicated to them! I've also come to the conclusion that my gallery has way to much brown in it! I need more color!! Thus the blue tones. Hope you like it! I think I'll make a back pack of papers to go along with it. This will hopefully be in the store by the end of the week!

Here's an Add-On Pack for Floral Traditions. I wanted to keep going with the Page Kit- so here it is. I think that does it for this series! I can't wait to see some LO's with this!!

I'm also planning a REALLY FUN challenge to go along with the Floral Traditions Series. Let's just say- you better get your camera ready and get ready to start posing!!

Whew! I just finished this kit. And now I can't wait to scrap with it myself. I've been skimming through my new srap mags and I see journaling strips everywhere! Then I thought- that would make a cool element. They could usd them as is or cut them up to individual strips- whatever they want. Neato! I'm also really fond of the flower made out of a book page. I think this kit will cover a wide range of uses- art journal, heritage, fall, everyday- even masculine LO's. Please let me know if you like it!

GREAT NEWS!!! for us junior designers and for YOU too!!! It's just been announced that we can now have 8 products in the store!!! 5 page kits, and 3 other non-page kit kits!! It's been kind of tough being limited to only 5 kits per month and trying to decided what will work best each month. This really allows for MUCH more creativity!! YEAAAAA!!!
So on that note, I've created an Add-On pack for Batik Butterfly!! Here it is! Hopefully in the store very soon!

I just finished these overlays for Heritage Theme Week at DSP. This overlay frame kit will be given away as a FREEBIE posting bonus. Check out the details at digitalscrapbookplace.com. I think I will also put them in the store in October. I think they will go really well with my Pretty Pumpkin Kit. I've never done a heritage layout myself, but I am so inspired by heritage week that I'm going to go dig up some old photos. I've know of one of my grandma that I would really like to scrap with.

Here's the matching Alpha. Whew! Alphas are A LOT of work. Even more than page kits I think. Because you have to do the same thing over and over again- 36 times!!! But I'm really happy with it. I think it will be very versatile- matching the kit but also will probably match a lot of other supplies!

You can enter my Where the Boys Are Challenge this week for a chance to win this Alpha for FREE! 10 random winners will be drawn at the end of the challenge.

After the challenge, the Alpha will be in the digitalscrapbookplace.com store in October.

I've been working hard on this one and I must say that I'm really, really pleased how it's turing out. I think it will be good for halloween, autumn, Thanksgiving- even heritage. I still have a ribbon and a bow to make. But now I want to make some pumpkin soup! I hope you like it too! It will be in the store in October.

Well, I'm on a "paper" scrapbooking retreat this weekend- EEEEKKK paper!! I'm the only one here with a laptop. Kinda funny. Slowly, one by one, the paper scrappers have been meekly making their way over as they get brave enough to ask questions. I have to say that they are blown away by the whole digital thing!! They can't believe that you can do the same thing on the computer- without the huge mess!! I've been asked the following many times today, "so you don't have to carry all your stuff?" "Where's all your supplies?" "So you just move things around on your laptop?" "Where's your albums?" etc. etc. The funniest thing is when a paper scrapper runs out of a letter in her paper alpha. Then you hear someone call out- "Does anyone have an A that matches this. I'm out of A's." I just chuckle to myself and think, "I never have that problem with digital."

Here's a kit I've put together while I'm here. Halloween is my number 1 favorite holiday!! This was so much fun. So much fun, in fact, that I may have to make an add-on pack too!! This will be in the DSP store in October.

Just finished this kit and I'm so excited about it! I hope everyone at DSP is excited about it too. It matches the freebies I gave away recently- Batik Butterfly BackPack and Overlay Pack. I think the whole group goes together really well. I can't wait to scrap with it myself! I'd love to hear what you think!

I'm trying this in another browser... hopefully it will work.

Here's the finished kit. Very girlie- very doodley- is that a word? I guess it is now.
You can get this kit at digitalscrapbookplace.com in Sept. I'm sorry for the wait, but as a junior designer at DSP, I'm only allowed to put 5 products per month in the store. Good things come to those who wait though right?!
Now I'm off to make a matching Doodled Alpha. Fun!
I'm having problems with blogger yesterday and today. I've been trying to upload an image of the finished kit and every time I try, it crashes my browser. I tried another file and the same thing. Not sure what the problem is... hopefully it's fixed soon!

A while back, before I became an official designer, I gave away a doodle set called Alice in Doodleland. I'm seeing these doodles more and more in layouts in the DSP gallery, so I thought... hmmmm... maybe I should make a kit to go along with those doodles. And my pink, girlie side is itching to come out again. So here's some papers I've come up with. Now I just have to come up with some fun elements. I'm planning on getting this into the DSP store in September. If you have any element ideas to go along with these, I'd love to hear them!

Here's the matching Add-On Doodle pack. I've been getting requests for more flower doodles, so here's some more!!
And guess what?! I'm going to give this away for FREE to everyone who attends my next Bingo chat at DSP on August 18th!
Fun! Fun! Fun!

I just finished this kit. It will be in the DSP store in September. A long time to wait, I know. But it will be worth it. Hard to see the detail here, but the scrollie necklace is a very fine tooled metal. The smaller square is a see-through scarf. I have to say that I'm really in love with this one! I just wish I could wave a magic wand over it and make it real and turn it into an outfit!!
I think it will be lots of fun to scrap with. Maybe someone will pull out some old photos from the 60's! That would be so fun!!

Tuesday, August 08, 2006

So here's what I'm drumming up in my head for September. Subject to change of course. Sometimes when I get to designing, things go in a different direction. But here's what's swimming in my head....

Hippie Chic kit- Tie-dyed papers, daisies, hemp, twine, tattoo doodles

Back to Pre-School- kiddie papers, paper-dolls, kid handprints, paint smears, child-like drawn doodles

I just got a cute summer camisole top with lots of browns, beiges, and orange flowers- very bohemian. It makes for a great kit inspiration!!

I'd like to learn how to make a font. I'd really like to make a font of doodles. That would be so fun. Hopefully I can find the time to learn how to do this!

That's what's in my head right now. If you'd like to offer any suggestions, I'd love to hear them!! Just click the word "comments" below.

Here's a funny one... DSP member Shazzt informed me today that my new kit name "Little Buggers" might be offensive to those "down under." Apparently Bugger is a not-so-nice word there- and I think in England too. It's actually a swear word! Who knew??? So I will be changing the kit name to Little Buggies. bummer... I was so in love with the name Little Buggers too. oh well...

Trend Watch: So have you seen the new Gap TV commercial yet?? I love the Gap ads. When one comes on you just have to stop whatever your doing and watch. They play the best music for one, but they also have the hippest dancers. Their most recent ad features different styles of blue jeans with hip hop dancers. But what I found so interesting is the graphics flashing behind and around the dancers. They look like DOODLES!! Really hip funky doodles. This is exactly the kind of style I'm going to be heading towards in the very near future. Just a week or so ago I was telling my dh that I'm going to start doing some tye-dye papers, tattoo style doodles, daisys, etc. I predict that the next scapping style is going to take a turn to the funk-a-delic. And the Gap ad certainly supports that!! I was so geeked to see it!! What do you think?? Are you ready for some funk in your LO's??

Here's my second Build-A-Doodle kit. I can't wait to get them into the store!!!!!!

Ok. Here's what I've been working on. I think this is going to be so fun for those who love doodles and would like an easy way to create them themselves. It's a Build Your Own Doodle Kit. Pick your flower parts, combine them and build your own flower. You can resize the parts- make the petals larger, smaller, skinnier, fatter. You can use different petals together, You can add as many leaves as you like. You can color the doodles, fill them with color, fill them with different papers. Do whatever you like. I'm thinking that those who love doodles are going to flip for these. I've created 2 packs- because one just wasn't enough in my opinion!! These will be available August 1st.

I'm working hard to complete my monthly requirements for DSP. Whew! It's a lot of work, but it's SO FUN! I just finished this weekly freebie. I'm still stuck on this color scheme as you can tell. But I really like how these came out. They started to look like Batik fabric- which I LOVE and then the name just clicked! You'll be able to get this for FREE at digitalscrapbookplace.com on 9/25.

Monday, July 24, 2006

I'm working on something very cool! At least I hope it will be!! I don't have a preview yet, but it's going to be really fun. Let's just say it has to do with doodles, flowers, parts, creating... can't give away anything else. Check back and I'll have a preview soon!

Ok. I'm limited at DSP on how many things I can put into one kit. When creating Little Critters, the ideas came so fast that I quickly had more items than needed, so this add-on kit was born. I'm really partial to these bug doodles. I think they are really cute. I hope the DSP members think so too. I can't wait to get these in the store so I can start making some LO's with them. We're going on another camping trip and I'll search for bugs myself if I have to to get some good pics of the boys for this!!

Here's another page kit for August. This was inspired by an old stamp I had of a bug. I created the beetle first and then the rest of the kit just poured out and into my laptop. I think this will work well for little boys- or little girls for that matter. I know I'll be using it for my 2 little guys outdoor adventures.

Interesting note: I quickly became known as the doodle girl at DigitalScrapbookplace.com. Early on- before I was signed on, I gave away some doodled flowers and swirly things. They were a hit and so I kept creating more. I'm really jazzed about this. I used to do hand illustrations- back in the day- before everything was done on computers. I actually drew illustrations with pencil and ink for magazine ads. Since the overtaking of computers, I hadn't done much drawing. I'm so thrilled to be able to use my drawing talents again- even if it is just doodling.

Well now that I've officially become a bonafide Digital Scrapbook Designer, I thought I better jump into this blog thing. It seems like everyone's blogging about their designs so I better start too.

This July I was contracted with digitalscrapbookplace.com as a designer. I was so so thrilled I could hardly believe it. I had been working towards this since April when I created my first page kit - inspired by my Target duvet cover, which I'm also proud of because it only cost $25 including shams!!

I never thought I'd be going "back to work" so soon. My youngest boy is only 18 mos. But this opportunity rolled in and I had to take it. I am so geeked about doing this and - hopefully- earning some money while I'm at it. I hope to use this blog to show my upcoming kits, share ideas, post new trends in scrapbooking, and maybe even share some tips.

I want to thank everyone at digitalscrapbookplace.com for helping me reach my goal of becoming a designer. If you haven't been to their site, go immediately. I believe it's the best all-around digital scrapbook site on the web. The members and team are some of the most fantastic, friendly and incredibly talented people on the planet. And if you need instructions on how to get started in digital scrapbooking, they've got all the classes and tutorials you will ever need.

This is a picture sample of one of my kits for August- Chocolate Cherries. Sometimes things just don't end up the way you think they will. I had started this kit with a little girl theme in mind. Red cherries on yellow, piink cherries on light pink, cute girly things- maybe a silver cherry charm. And then it just took on a life of it's own. I made the brown paper and click- it became chocolate cherries. Then it suddenly turned to more richer, deeper hues. Now I'm thinking this would be great for heritage LO's. You really never know how something might turn out.
